Update: New patch for Firefox 3.
Old patch see below. You need the new 0.7.2 version from foxylicious to
get it working with Firefox 3.
0.7.2 don't seem to be an offical version and can be found on
opencomponentry.
foxylicious 0.7.2 isn't working out of the box with del.icio.us (use my patch for scuttle), you need to modify it (use this hint).
How to patch it under Unix:
1. Download foxylicious plugin from the page above.
2. Download the patch
3. Edit the downloaded patch and substitute "your_host" with the hostname
you are running scuttle on. Example: If you use the Scuttle Service on
scuttle.org you substitute it with "scuttle.org".
4. Create a dev folder and change directory to it: mkdir dev;cd dev/
5. Unzip the original plugin: unzip ../foxylicious-0.7.2.xpi
6. Patch the files: patch -p1 < ../foxylicious-v0.7.2.patch
7. Create patched plugin package: zip -r ../foxylicious-patched.xpi
*
8. Install the patched plugin while typing
"file:///path/to/foxylicious-patched.xpi" in your browser
Differences to original plugin:
- Perhaps one or two features are not usable. Not testet all yet.
- When you are not logged in scuttle you can't add new scuttle
entries. The scuttle plugin has the same problem.
- The plugin labels everything with del.icio.us like the "Add to
del.icio.us" feature - but it's not del.icio.us, your defined site will
be used.
- You can't use this plugin with del.icio.us anymore
- I only support https - Since 0.7.2 there's a bug where your bookmarks are saved on sync. Not every bookmark folder is possible (see comments on the above linked blog). Why to use foxylicious and not the scuttle plugin? Because with foxylicious you can copy all your scuttle bookmarks to Firefox. And you can use delimeters to organize your bookmarks in Firefox.
